Project title: Data Profiling in SPARQL Federation Optimizations
Project description: My interest in information security is a byproduct rather than a primary focus of my research. My research focuses on using statistical techniques to optimize queries over very heterogenous data and systems. The systems can be anything from open data on the open Web, to controlled environments, and it may also integrate across them. In each system, there are different security needs. On the open Web, it is important that the system cannot easily be taken down by a malicious query, which is a very significant threat (so significant that most database researchers think we are wasting our time), while there may be more conventional threats in other environments.
