Project title: Efficient privacy-preserving identification in large-scale multi-biometric systems
Project description: Biometric systems use distinctive physiological and/or behavioural characteristics of humans for the purpose of identifying individuals. Efficient and accurate large-scale identification (i.e. establishing the identity of a person based only on their biometric data, without an identity claim) is one of the important unresolved challenges of biometrics. In addition to the accuracy and workload challenges, the increasing ubiquity of biometric systems has spawned a number of concerns regarding the user privacy and protection of sensitive user data.
The goal of the project is development of algorithms and data-structures that address above issues and comprehensive evaluation thereof using the current, standardised methodology. Some of the key topics of the project are multi-modal biometrics, information fusion and fuzzy data indexing.
