Project title: Cybersecurity of IoT enabled Smart Grids
Project description: Some of key features and characteristics of a Smart Grid are: bidirectional information and electricity flow, robust and uninterrupted power supply due to its self healing capabilities, integration of advanced sensor, communication and control technology among others. IoT enabled smart grids have also introduced
various potential issues and challenges and also additional vulnerabilities. As a result of these different challenges and vulnerabilities, there can be attacks to Smart Grids which are categorized as passive
or active attacks. NIST cybersecurity framework proposes the five functions: identify, protect, detect, respond, recover in the framework to improve critical
infrastructure cyber security. This thesis focuses on protection, detection and response phases of the NIST framework.
