Project title: Consequences of machine learning and quantum computing in the field of cryptology
Project description: Quantum algorithms paired with a powerful quantum computers, pose a very real threat to quite a lot of in use crypto-systems. In particular, a lot of public key cryptosystems, like RSA, will be compromised. To prepare for the possible dawn of powerful quantum computers this study will investigate cryptology and the impact quantum computing and machine learning in the field. This investigation includes machine learning as it has shown applications in a wide variety of fields, and may very well be used to provide good security in the presence of a powerful quantum computer.
